Individual Note:   Ian & Helen were in Italy. They decided they would like the child to be born in Great Britain. The whole family flew to London and then came on to Cockermouth. Ian flew baxk to Italy but returned a week later just in time to rush Helen off to hospital where Peter was born a few hours later. Ian again returned to Italy and Helen & children followed on some weeks later.

Individual Note:   First went to Brentwood where he met Martha on Seamstress course In 1862 walked to Rochford and became Journeyman shoemaker Started own business and moved to larger premises in North Street (in square) Studied astronomy and theology. Kindly man, e.g. shoes for poor Expert player and teacher of clarinet cello and violin. Radical. Parish councellor. Good Templars. Congregationalist. Cricket enthusiast.
